What it’s like to travel in July 2020
Posted on 07/28/2020
My family traveled to Gulfport, MS over the 4th of July weekend. I was very curious how the travel experience would go, having read the news and heard from clients who had traveled recently.
We flew Delta Airlines, so your experience may be different. Important note: check your flight schedule before you travel! They are making frequent adjustments.
The airports are well signed about social distances, wearing a mask, and washing your hands.
Delta did the pre-board for those who need more time, than loaded from the back to the front. No mad scrambling for the overhead space since they are only at 60% capacity. Nice! On the 3 seat side of the plane, the middle seats were empty. We were on the two seat side, and were next to each other, since we were on the same reservation.
When we Got on the plane, they handed us a disinfectant wipe, so we could wipe down our seats, trays, seat buckles, arm rests, whatever we wanted. I did, but my husband just kept his.
They reminded us several times in the gate area, and again on the plane, that wearing a face mask is required all during the flight, unless you were eating or drinking.
They handed out a bag for each of us containing a small bottle of water, two bags of snacks, a napkin, and a single use hand sanitizer.
We went through Atlanta, the world’s busiest airport, and only 5 of 12 screens were showing departure flights
